Abstract
This document lists the currently supported CNS Internet Servers. Users should use these values when configuring their Internet clients (e-mail, news, time, etc.) to work at CNS and the University of Florida.

This document lists the currently supported CNS Internet Servers. Users should use these values when configuring their Internet clients (e-mail, news, time, etc.) to work at CNS and the University of Florida.
The primary domain name server for domain .UFL.EDU
(including CNS and the University of Florida)
is:
128.227.128.24
(name.ufl.edu)

CNS.
Several USENET servers exist on the University of Florida campus, which may be accessed by users in the appropriate domains. These include:
usenet.ufl.edu (Includes UF GatorLink
accounts)
usenet.cise.ufl.edu
usenet.ifas.ufl.edu
If you are in one of these domains, you should connect to the corresponding server.
If you are establishing a departmental Usenet server, and wish to receive a feed, please contact net-services@lists.ufl.edu.
The University of Florida directory is available online through an
"LDAP" ("Lightweight Directory Access Protocol") server located
at ldap.ufl.edu.
The appropriate search base is:

You may use the directory to look up UF students, faculty, or staff, by connecting to

CNS maintains both IMAP and POP servers for remote mail access clients such as Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Pine, Eudora, Thunderbird, and Mail. In addition to serving CNS-specific usernames, CNS provides, manages and maintains e-mail servers for the GatorLink system.
All CNS usernames should use
username@cns.ufl.edu
as their e-mail address.
All GatorLink usernames should use
username@ufl.edu
as their e-mail address.
Remote mail access clients require you to specify your mail server addresses.

*We recommend configuring your client to use the SMTP
"Message Submission Port" (port 587) and TLS
encryption to ensure your outgoing mail is not blocked by your Internet
Service Provier's network policies. For detailed information, please see
