Chapter 4. Introduction

Built-In Help

As with most e-mail programs, the first thing you see when you log into GatorLink WebMail Web mail is a list of messages you have received: your "INBOX." From here you can read messages, compose outgoing mail, delete messages, move them to folders for long-term storage, and do a variety of other tasks.

Built-In Help

This is a good time to note that GatorLink WebMail has extensive help built into it in the form of "tool tips." Hovering your mouse-pointer (without clicking) over various commands, controls, and other objects displayed on GatorLink WebMail pages will result in the appearance of a small text-box describing in more detail what that item is, or giving additional information about it.

For example:

  • Hovering over the Edit Folders command (found in the Top Menu) will result in a little information box which says:

Create, Delete, and (Un)Subscribe to Folders

  • Hovering over any name in your address-book list (which appears to the right of the Compose Message panel) will display the corresponding e-mail address (this might be useful if you have multiple entries for a single person, and want to be sure you're sending to--say, their "work" address instead of their "personal" account).

  • Hovering over a truncated message Subject in the list of messages will display the complete, untruncated subject

  • Hovering over any of the message Flags (small icons such as , , etc. to the left of various messages) will display an explanation of that flag-icon.
