Address "Auto-Completion"

Instead of clicking on entries in your address-book and then clicking the To, CC, or BCC buttons, you may, instead, just type the names or e-mail addresses of your intended recipients into the corresponding To:, CC:, or BCC: fields of the main "compose message" area.

GatorLink WebMail will "watch" as you type the recipient, and search your Address Book for possible matches. It searches on both the Name and Email fields. If there are any addresses in your Address Book which match what you have typed, a yellow-highlighted drop-down menu will appear, showing all the entries which match.

If more than one address is listed, you can use your keyboard's "arrow keys" to move through the list. When the address you wanted to highlighted in yellow, simply press the <Enter> key to have the completed address entered for you. Or, you can select an address by clicking on it in the drop-down menu. Clicking an address or pressing <Enter> will leave you in the same field (To, CC:, or BCC:), for convenience in adding additional recipients. Alternatively, you may use the <Tab> key instead of <Enter>, to enter the currently-highlighted address and jump immediately to the next field.

Note

The "auto-complete" feature only works with addresses which are listed in your address book.

GatorLink WebMail does not automatically add to your address book the addresses of people to whom you have sent mail. The only way in which addresses may be added to your address book is for you to add it; either by going to the Address Book page, and clicking the Add Address link, or by clicking the Add to address book link found next to the Sender: field of each message you receive.

Disabling "Auto-Completion"

Some users prefer not to use Auto-Completion. The GatorLink WebMail Preferences page includes an option to deactivate this feature.
