When your GatorLink e-mail account is created, it has, by default, an INBOX, and a "Trash" folder. You can add as many additional folders as you like, to organize saved messages, and you can name these folders according to your individual needs and preferences. The total size of all your folders (excluding "Trash" which has a separate, independent limit) is counted toward your GatorLink e-mail space allocation ("quota").

This is where all your incoming mail is placed. It stays here until you delete it or move it to another folder.
An exception to this is if you have created an automatic filtering rule to redirect some incoming mail to a different folder(s). Currently the only such filtering rule available in GatorLink WebMail is the "Auto Filter Junk Mail" rule (accessible via the "Preferences" page), which will place messages that match or exceed your junk-mail threshold directly into the "Junk" folder, bypassing the INBOX. Other rules may be made available in the future.
If you go to the GatorLink WebMail "Preferences" page and check "Auto Filter Junk Mail:", GatorLink WebMail will create a folder named "Junk" if it does not already exist.
If a folder named "Sent" does not already exist, GatorLink WebMail will create it the first time you send a message if you leave the "Copy message to Sent folder" checkbox checked.
When you delete a message, it is moved to the Trash folder.
In some ways, the Trash folder is similar to any other e-mail folder you may have. You can open it, view the list of messages in it, read the messages, move/copy them to other folders, and even reply-to or forward them.
However, in the Trash folder all the "Delete" commands are changed to "Delete Forever". If you delete something from the Trash folder it is finally, truly deleted.
You should monitor the amount of space used by your Trash folder (using the "Folder Quota" display), and empty it before it becomes completely full. Failure to do so will cause you to be unable to delete messages from your other, regular folders, because there will be no room for them in the Trash.
See the section on "quota" for more information.
