Multi-Tasking: GatorLink WebMail to the Nth Power

GatorLink WebMail Usage Tips

  • Use Web mail controls to navigate between pages, NOT your browser-back and -forward buttons. Using your browser's "back" and "forward" buttons may result in unintended consequences--such as sending the same message multiple times.

  • Don't try to compose a message in a word-processor (like MS-Word or WordPerfect) and then copy-and-paste it into GatorLink WebMail. GatorLink WebMail will translate any character it doesn't understand into a questionmark ("?"). While it may not be obvious, most word-processors use a more complex set of symbols/characters than GatorLink WebMail can handle. Even seemingly-ordinary characters like quote-marks and apostrophes may be rendered as "?" by GatorLink WebMail. If you need to use a word-processor to compose your message, save your word-processor file and send it as an attachment.

  • The same caution applies to use of non-US-English characters. Even if you find some way of entering non-US-English characters into GatorLink WebMail, they will in all probability show as questionmarks ("?") by the time your recipient reads your message. You are advised to use a word-processor which supports the character-set of the language in which you need to communicate, and send the word-processor file as an attachment, to preserve the characters as you intend.
