Abstract
The CNS documentation system (DOCWEB) provides easy access to all CNS-related documentation. DOCWEB allows you to search, view, and print a variety of documents using your Web browser. DOCWEB includes not only temporary, time-dependent information (news, announcements, etc.), but also permanent information that will remain in the system as long as necessary.

Documents in DOCWEB are identified with DOCIDs, or DOCument IDentifiers (for example, How to Change Your CNS Password, D0005). These DOCIDs will help you locate the document referenced in DOCWEB.
Through DOCWEB, you have access to the following types of documentation:
CNS News, a service that sends you timely e-mail messages, can help keep you current on software upgrades, service updates, holiday schedules, new products, and urgent announcements, including information not available in /Update, our newsletter. You can subscribe free to CNS News; see Subscribe Free to CNS News at http://nersp.cns.ufl.edu/~infosrv/cgi-bin/nerdc-news-subscribe for instructions on subscribing. Current and previous news articles can also be searched, viewed and printed from DOCWEB. Document number identifiers for CNS News begin with N.
CNS documents and manuals cover a variety of subjects, from how to change your password to supercomputing. Documents have an abstract that describes the contents and serves as a helpful reference. The document identifiers for CNS documents begin with D.
The CNS Support Desk answers many questions from our users. The most common and most useful questions-and-answers are added to DOCWEB for your convenience. Click on "Q&A: The CNS FAQ File." The FAQs are sorted by category. CNS Q&A document identifiers begin with Q.
Each month, CNS publishes /Update, a monthly newsletter to help keep our users up-to-date with interesting and important developments. Articles of long-term value are added to the DOCWEB library. Articles of long-term value area dded to the DOCWEB library. PDFs of complete /Update issues since June 1994 are also available online at http://www.cns.ufl.edu/update.
Located in DOCWEB, these documents cover services or applications that are available at CNS, but for which the documentation is written by non-CNS sources. They include CNS-related vendor documentation from other UF departments and Florida public universities, as well as from commercial vendors. Abstracts are also provided with these documents. The document identifiers for vendor documents begin with V.
For detailed information about DOCWEB see the HELP link on the DOCWEB home page. If you have questions or comments about DOCWEB, please contact CNS Information Services at (352) 392-2061 or send e-mail to editor@cns.ufl.edu.
CNS produces various "handouts"--documents with detailed information on specific computing subjects. These are available free at 112 SSRB. Most are also available online from the "Documentation and Training" link on the CNS home page (http://www.cns.ufl.edu) or via DOCWEB at http://docweb.cns.ufl.edu.
A sampling of current handouts includes:
Dial-Up 101 (D0119)--Guide to connecting to CNS and the Internet with a computer, modem, and phone line
How Do I Get a CNS ID?
CNS: An Overview of the Northeast Regional Data Center
CNS Quick Reference Card (D0131)--documentation sources, hours, Internet addresses, printing, output, z/OS ABEND codes, z/OS batch JCL, Sample JCL parameters, sign-on/sign-off procedures, and telephone numbers (voice, data)

CNS handouts are updated, and new handouts are created, on a regular basis due to frequent changes in computing environments. Please check with CNS Information Services for the latest information.
CIRCA also produces handouts on topics of interest to many CNS users. Visit the UF Computing Help Desk office in 132 HUB, or get handouts online from the CIRCA Web site at http://helpdesk.ufl.edu/handouts/.
Many of the recommended references for IBM products must be ordered directly from IBM. For ordering information, call (800) 879-2755.
CNS also provides free access to IBM manuals via a link from the CNS home page. For assistance with accessing this information, please call the CNS Support Desk at (352) 392-2061.
