As announced in our earlier message primary electronic addresses (e-mail, URLs, etc.) which were formerly "-something-.nerdc.ufl.edu" have been changed (see CNS News item N0403, subject "New 'CNS' Name Now Used For Web, E-mail, Service Addresses", 12 April 2004).
This change is effective immediately. However, in order to provide continuity and minimize the impact on our users, the old "nerdc" addresses are being supported as aliases for the near term.
In order to help you manage the transition, we will be releasing a series of announcements, suggesting various actions which you should take to make sure the transition goes smoothly.
At this time we recommend that you begin reviewing your Web browser
bookmarks/shortcuts, and update any which refer to the old 'nerdc'
name-space. While in some cases you may be able to simply substitute
'cns' in place of 'nerdc' in an existing URL, in many
instances such a simple mapping will not work. When the new site was created,
a significant amount of restructuring was also done. We recommend that you
visit the new CNS home site (http://www.cns.ufl.edu),
and use the menus and links to navigate to pages of interest, to make sure you
have the correct URL for your new links.
In addition to the CNS departmental home site, user web pages of the
form http://nersp.nerdc.ufl.edu/
should be converted to ~userid/...http://nersp.cns.ufl.edu/~userid/...
Web page authors/maintainers: Please review any Web pages for which you are responsible, and change the links/references on them to the new 'CNS' URLs.
This is the second message in this series; to see previous messages, go
to the CNS home page (http://www.cns.ufl.edu)
and click the yellow "Announcements" icon. Additional details can be
found on the "NERDC -to- CNS DNS Name Change Quick-Reference" page at

.
In our next message, we plan to address USENET news service address changes.
