Running Out of Space Executing SAS on CNS
| Q: | I can not run a SAS job due to a space problem. Here is what
the SASLOG said: 185
PROC SORT DATA = &FILE.EDIT; BY HTDKEY DESCENDING TYPEHTD; 186
ERROR: Sort did not complete successfully. See messages on the Job
Console Log og or //SYSOUT data set. ERROR: Host sort cannot be
used. THE SYSOUT: WER046A SORT CAPACITY EXCEEDED WER066A APROX RCD
CNT 132066
What can I do to make this job run? Thanks. (AJ). |
| A: | My advisor suggested that you increase the sort space
allocation on the // EXEC SAS statement.
This will allow a larger work space for your sort. It defaults to a
size of 4 cylinders and so we would recommend bumping the sort space
allocation up to at least 6. The correct syntax for this is: //stepname EXEC SAS,SORT=6
The 6 is just a guess because we don’t know how many records
are in your file; nor do we know the record length of your file
records. You may need to adjust this figure. Please let us know if we can help you further. (tlvh) |
