Sheard Goodwin Joins Network Services

A warm welcome goes out to Sheard (pronounced "shurd") Goodwin, who joined Network Services in February as a Senior Telecom Specialist.

Goodwin works with the UF Infrastructure Group, which includes himself and Will King (both of Network Services) and Plant Rodgers and Todd Hester (both of CIRCA).

His duties here at NERDC include establishing a new labelling standard for the fiber-optics on campus and also finding new software to assist in documentation. "We're looking for a more integrated package that will be smart enough to track the changes we make to the fiber on campus," Goodwin said.

Before coming to NERDC, Goodwin worked for the wiring group in UF Academic Affairs. "I'd been working with Ed Gresh in Academic Affairs since I started at UF as a student about 8 or 9 years ago."

Goodwin has an impressive educational background: a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (both from UF), and an Associate of Science in Computer Information (from Santa Fe Community College). He is currently working toward a B.S. in Chemistry here at UF. In addition to degree-seeking, Goodwin is also studying for a Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certification as an RCDD--Registered Communications Distribution Designer.

"Working at NERDC means that you get to be a part of the bigger picture and I like that," said Goodwin.
